Saddlebag that will mount Varia – The Paceline Forum

Bup Labs finally re-stocked the Fizik mount (NB: they have a few other styles of saddle mount), so I just got this and a Varia in yesterday. My Silca tool roll fits pretty snugly. The Varia will obviously block your access to your stuff on most saddle bags.

On the road, the mount does seem secure. The Fizik mount wedges pretty firmly in the slot, and Bup supplies a bolt to lock it in. I haven’t taken it off-road yet, although I should be able to before the year is out.

Not related to the topic of mounts, but the one issue I had was that my Elemnt Bolt lost connection with the Varia 3-4 times on my ride today. It almost always reconnected without me having to do anything, however. The one time it didn’t reconnect, I was fiddling with the Varia to try to get it into pairing mode and I turned it off accidentally, so I would give the system a pass on that score. I’ll be testing this with my Roam soon enough.

Anyway, I have all of 70mm of seatpost showing. I have no ability to mount the Varia normally on the post plus mount my current tool roll. The flat Ornot bag or a similar one might work, but it would be a tight squeeze. Garmin does require the bottom of the Varia to clear your tire.
